Catering for a group almost always means catering for a few different diets. Someone’s vegetarian, someone’s avoiding gluten, someone’s dairy-free. The good news: a thoughtful Italian caterer can take care of all of it. Here’s how to handle vegan and gluten-free catering in Alpharetta so everyone at your event eats well.
What changed: we now cater from a real vegan menu
For a long time, vegan catering meant ordering around the menu — a cheeseless pizza, a tray of plain marinara pasta, and a lot of apologising. That’s no longer the case. Vito’s now has a dedicated Vegan & Plant-Based section built with vegan cheese, vegan sausage and vegan chicken, and those dishes can go into your catering order like any other.
The ones that travel and serve best for a group:
- Vegan Baked Ziti — ziti baked with marinara and vegan cheese. Holds heat well and portions cleanly, which makes it the most reliable vegan tray on a buffet line.
- Vegan Sausage & Peppers Pasta — penne with vegan sausage, sautéed peppers and onions. The one that convinces sceptics it isn’t “the vegan option.”
- Vegan Penne & Broccoli — garlic and olive oil, no red sauce. Good contrast if you already have a marinara tray.
- Vegan Greek, Garden or Caesar salad — with vegan dressings, no feta or parmesan, so the salad isn’t off-limits to your plant-based guests.
Build dietary options into any order
Tell us about your group’s needs when you book and we’ll plan the spread — and label the trays clearly so guests know exactly what’s what. Clear labels matter more than most hosts expect: a vegan guest who has to interrogate every tray is not having a good time at your event.
How much of the order should be vegan?
A practical rule for a mixed group: count your known vegan and vegetarian guests, then add about 20%. Plant-based trays get eaten by everyone, not just the people who requested them — especially the sausage and peppers. Under-ordering the vegan tray is the more common mistake, and it’s the one your vegan guests will notice.
Other crowd-friendly choices
- Vegetarian pizza — mushrooms, onions, peppers, spinach, garlic and olives. A guaranteed hit even for non-vegetarians.
- Veggie Stromboli (vegan) — cuts into portions easily, which makes it an easy hand-held option for a standing event.
- Gluten-free crust — we offer a gluten-free 10" crust so GF guests aren’t left out of pizza.
One thing worth separating: vegan and gluten-free are different requests. Our vegan dishes are built on wheat pasta and wheat-based breading, so a guest who needs both at once needs a different plan. Tell us and we’ll be straight with you about what we can and can’t do well for that person.
One honest note on allergies
Our kitchen makes traditional wheat dough and uses shared equipment, so it is not a dedicated allergen-free facility. If anyone at your event has celiac disease or a severe allergy, please tell us when you order so we can take extra care — and so you can make the right call for your guests.
Make ordering easy on your guests
The simplest approach for a mixed group: order a meat option, a vegan pasta tray, a salad everyone can eat, and a clearly-labeled gluten-free item. That covers almost everyone and keeps the serving line simple. We’re happy to help you plan the right mix — here’s the full rundown of our vegan and gluten-free options if you want to see everything first.
